Some assisted living facilities offer a continuation of care such as independent living apartments, memory care assisted living, skilled nursing and rehabilitation and long term, nursing home placement. Licensed caregivers that provide live-in services, senior companionship and/or homemaker's services can come from licensed home health care agencies, nurse registries or homemaker/companion services. Caregivers should expect to pay on average $22 an hour for non-medical senior care with a minimum of 4 hours per visit. Private funding, Veteran's Aid and Attendance Benefits or Long Term Care Insurance are generally the acceptable forms of payment for this type of individualized care.
