About us
Founded in 1997, Comprehensive Wellness Services is a Medicare certified full service home health agency providing communities quality home care services throughout the state of Florida. Comprehensive strives to maintain a "family" type culture while being a leader and innovator in the delivery of home care services. Our corporate mission is to assist people in recovering from disease so they can obtain an optimal level of functioning, independence, comfort and longevity. Our goal is to provide service excellence and be the industry leading home health agency.
We meet the needs of homebound patients by maintaining a strong professional staff and through the development and implementation of progressive and relevant disease management programs. Our Home Telemonitoring program is one of the largest and most successful in the United States giving thousands of patients seven day a week access to our professional nursing staff. This advanced technology allows our highly trained staff to monitor patients and intervene with nursing or physician assistance when clinical changes are identified.
Our management and professional staff includes registered nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech and language pathologists, nutritionists, behavioral nurses, social workers and home health aides. The clinical staff with guidance from multi-specialty board certified physicians oversee our licensed caregivers.
Our success in patient home care is, in good part due, to the advice and counsel of our patient’s physicians, medical advisors, and their professional staffs. We frequently sponsor forums for our referring physicians to solicit their thoughts, concerns and ideas to continuously improve the quality and delivery of home health care and ancillary services. We are committed to improving our organization, our home health programs as well as reducing administrative overhead through the adoption of new technologies.
Medicare home health care services is designed for short term, intermittent, skilled care. It requires a physician's order and a patient must be considered homebound to receive care under Medicare Part A. The term "homebound" can be interpreted as a Medicare participant who experiences a taxing effort to leave a person's home. Skilled home care can be either a treatment plan that requires a registered nurse and/or physical therapist to monitor a patient in a home environment. Medicare Part A is utilized when a physician orders Medicare Home Health to come into a patient's home. A patient's home may be a residential dwelling whether it is an assisted living facility, independent living or even a residential care home. To date, there is no co-pay or out of pocket expense for Medicare home care services.
Medicare home health is also generally ordered after a short stay at a skilled nursing and rehabilitation center (SNF) as a safeguard upon discharge. A patient can receive Medicare home health after visiting a doctor's office where a physician feels a patient is experience a medical decline of some sort, needs education for disease management, training for a new piece of equipment (rolling walker, cane) or medication management. Supporting diagnose(s) are required with the physician's order.
It is important that Medicare participants clearly understand that Medicare home care does not provide custodial care such as cooking and cleaning for a patient. A licensed Registered Nurse (RN) will conduct the initial evaluation to determine the frequency and duration and/or a therapist following the doctor’s home care order. During the initial assessment, patients and their family have a great opportunity to be educated on proper care, medications required and the actual frequency and duration of the home care visits.
