When seeking an alternative to assisted living care, many caregivers opt to bring in home care services to help an aging parent maintain their independence.   A companion/homemaker can provide home duties such as light housekeeping, meal preparation, laundry and errands. Homemakers found through a licensed care provider can wash hair, sewing, attending to a pet but cannot do heavy cleaning or any medically related tasks.Companionship is just that, companionship with NO ACTUAL HANDS ON CARE. Other respite care options can be found by aHome Health Aide.  A Home Health Aidecan provide all the services mentioned in addition to HANDS ON CARE such as dressing, bathing, feeding etc…which is generally referred to as Activities of Daily Living (ADLs).

When an Aide is found through a licensed care provider, a thorough background check is provided along with peace of mind that the provider holds themselves accountable for quality service.  Based on the amount of hours contracted, an Aide may attend to one resident or multiple residents in need of care.  Duties such as checking the pulse, transferring and helping patients to take their medicine are just a few of the responsibilities and benefits of hiring a Home Health Aide for personal care.
